celebrity mom interviews by Lizabeth Sorensen, editor in chief

Jennie Garth

We got to chat with Jennie Garth who we have loved since we first watched her as Kelly Taylor on 'Beverly Hills 90210'.  Most recently Jennie played Valerie on the WB's 'What I Like About You', but since the show ended it's run this past Spring, Jennie has been working hard on the role of "mama" as she expects her third child with husband Peter Facinelli. We urge you to keep an eye out for new Jennie Garth projects but first, read our exclusive one on one interview and hear from a "celebrity mom" who is really just like us.

9.18.06

Daily Stroll: So you are due with your third baby in October! We hear it’s a girl, is this true?

Jennie Garth: Yes, we are expecting our third girl...and are very happy about it.

DS: Your two older daughters Luca Bella and Lola Ray have names that begin with L, are you going to continue this with your new baby?

JG: I want to go with another L name, however, my husband feels very strongly against it...so we will see. I need to see her, and then we will decide which name fits.

DS: What have you been up to work-wise? We know that motherhood has to be extremely busy for you and that your most recent show What I Like About You ended last season, so what is next?

JG: I am ecstatic to be taking time off right now, but could possibly return to television in a year or so. I am keeping plenty busy with my family and various charitable projects.

DS: Do you think that the timing was just right with the end of your WB sitcom since you are expecting and would have had to film while pregnant?

JG: I ended 'what I like about you' just in time for this pregnancy, and am very happy to not be working right now...I am busier at home than i am on the set!

DS: How do you balance work and motherhood? Do you and your husband use a nanny?

JG: The balance of life is sometimes very hard...everything happens so fast. My husband is a great support, and when he is not filming, he is a full participation partner! We have a "nanny" (although I dislike that word), she is more of a friend that I wouldn't want to be without, and she has been with us for something like 15 years! As far as the balance, I just take it one day at a time, and I make a lot of lists.

DS:  90210, the show that made you a household name is releasing it’s first season on DVD November 7th, that has to be exciting! Any plans for another reunion show? 90210 movie?

JG: I was wondering when they were going to release it on dvd! Ya, I think that is great...it was a great show that really represented a decade for a lot of people. I would absolutely do a reunion at some point, it has been long enough now, and I think it would be fun!

DS: What do you think about all of the media craze around children of celebrities?

JG: I think the media should leave the children of celebrities alone...I for one get very upset when someone photographs my kids without my knowledge or consent...it is just wrong. it confuses children, frightens them, and makes them feel like targets. Let them be kids!

DS: Are you offended that celebrity gossip blogs are already speculating that photos of your new baby will fetch around $3000.00 for the first glance when Brad and Angelina’s baby fetched millions? Do you find this to be humorous or nonsense?

JG: I am delightfully oblivious to such "gossip blogs".

DS: What is the best gift you have received so far this pregnancy for your new baby and you?

JG: I have been giving such great things from strangers and friends alike...great strollers, maternity clothes, baby clothes, diaper bags, slings, a moon bouncer, even a breast pump! It is amazing and so appreciated, I love getting packages in the mail!!! Especially surprises... so thank you to everyone!

DS: As a children’s product reviewer, I have to ask, what is your favorite piece of baby/children’s gear? What could you not live without with a small baby?

JG:  I love a great stroller/infant seat combo... and a sling or carrier of some kind. And the clothes for little girls are maddening! My brain is pretty spent right now though, and I can't remember the correct product name for anything!

thank you Jennie!
